MeerKat is a bibliographic management software package developed by Update Software for The Cochrane Collaboration. It has been developed for individual Review Groups to organize and maintain their Specialized Register of studies for possible inclusion in systematic reviews carried out by those groups.

MeerKat can be used to create a "study-based" register. Records in a "study-based" register are organized primarily by studies (such as randomized controlled trials) and not by bibliographic references. Each study record contains a list of bibliographic records referring to that study.

MeerKat 1.4 is an enhancement to version 1.3, based on feedback from MeerKat users. A number of features requested by existing users have not yet been implemented. These form the basis of the "wish list", to which items may be added here <MeerKatHelp doesnotexist@cochrane.org cochrane.co.uk>. These features will hopefully be added to future versions of MeerKat.

An email discussion list exists for users of MeerKat to discuss problems, find solutions and exchange ideas. All MeerKat users are encouraged to join this list. Please post any problems or queries you have to the list or contact MeerKat Help <MeerKatHelp doesnotexist@cochrane.org cochrane.co.uk>.
